Flood Relief for Campbell Family in Jackson, KY
Donation protected
My name is Glenn Funkhouser, and while I live in Tipton, Indiana, I have family that has been impacted by the devastating flood in Eastern Kentucky. The Campbell family lives in Breathitt County, Kentucky, one of the areas hardest hit by catastrophic flooding over the past week. On July 28, their home in the city of Jackson was inundated with floodwaters from the nearby North Fork of the Kentucky River. On July 31, Kim, Edward, Ada, and Zander were allowed to briefly return to their home long enough to assess the impact of the floodwaters. Sadly, the family's home sustained significant damage, and they lost almost everything. Starting 8/1, they are allowed to return to their home to begin the long and painful process of cleaning up and repairing the damage. The Campbell's will also need to replace most of the contents and many of their personal belongings.
The family is in immediate need of funds to get the cleanup process underway, and to begin replacing contents and personal belongings. Anything you can contribute is appreciated.
The Campbell's situation is complicated by 9 year old Zander's autism. It is very difficult for Zander to understand why he can't go back home, and why many of his belongings are no longer available to him. The sudden changes from this natural disaster have created very high levels of anxiety and frustration for him. The sooner the family can get enough of the cleanup and repairs far enough along to move back in, the sooner things can begin to return to normal for Zander.
