Flood relief for Madelyn and Jim Leonard
Donation protected
On Friday, September 29, Tropical Storm Philippe hit the New York area. My sister and brother-in-law have lived in New Rochelle in a ground-floor unit for 30 years and never had flooding in their apartment. Unfortunately, that all changed on September 29. As they watched the parking lot and pool area fill with water, the water continued to rise and entered the lobby, hallways, and then their unit.
They had 4 inches of water in their apartment and tried to wet vac and get rid of the water to no avail. The water was coming from all angles inside the hallway
into their apartment; through the patio door; and also from under the flooring. THey had to evacuate and will not be able to live in their home for at least a couple of months until repairs are made.
They lost some furniture, clothing, and personal items in addition to the flooring and lower walls which have to be replaced. In addition, they are incurring monthly rental fees in the thousands to live elsewhere until they can go back to their home. They also have to pay for moving fees and storage costs until their home is fixed.
If you are able to offer any amount to help Madelyn and Jimmy offset some of these hardship expenses, it would be so very much appreciated.
Thank you for reading this and for being part of Madelyn and Jimmy's lives
