Flooded Friends Spain Animal Aid

Hello, I’m Natasha Horner, and I live in Álora, in the Málaga province – one of the areas deeply affected by the recent, devastating storms. I watched first-hand as riverbanks burst, spilling over into our towns and lands, triggering landslides and severe flooding. The destruction has been overwhelming, especially for our local animal shelters, which have been completely submerged in mud, with vital spaces turned into hazardous swamps.

I’ve visited these shelters and seen the atrocious conditions the animals now face. Dedicated staff and volunteers have done everything in their power to keep the animals safe amidst waist-high water and relentless mud, but the need is massive. These shelters, operating without government support, now face an uphill battle to rebuild, requiring urgent funds to restore destroyed enclosures, clean up the extensive damage, and replace supplies lost in the floods.

The Plan to Restore Our Shelters:

To bring these devastated shelters back to life and create safe, secure environments for the animals, here’s how your donation will make a difference:

Repair and Restoration of Damaged Structures:

Purchase construction materials to rebuild enclosures, repair walls, fix roofs, and secure fencing and boundaries.

Recruitment of Skilled Professionals:

Electricians to restore essential electrical systems for lighting and heating.

Plumbers to address water damage, ensure safe access to clean water, and repair leaks.

Builders and Carpenters to reinforce structural integrity, repair doors and gates, and create safe enclosures.

Replacement of Essential Equipment and Supplies:

Acquire bedding, food storage, washing machines, office equipment, medical supplies, toys, and other shelter necessities that were lost.

Long-Term Infrastructure and Safety Improvements:

Reinforce enclosures to prevent future flood damage, secure safe boundaries, and implement drainage solutions to protect against future storms.

Without these critical repairs and resources, the animals cannot receive the proper care they need until they are rehomed. Every contribution goes directly to restoring these safe havens and ensuring these animals are cared for in a secure environment.
