Flooding of Black Heart Farm

My dear friends’ farm has suffered immeasurable damage with the recent flooding in our community. The Chehalis river is currently literally flowing through their property.

The farm is home to two families with a total of 10 children, and countless adorable animals.

They haven’t even begun to assess the damage as the adults that stayed behind are literally trapped in a house with water rushing all around them. They can’t reach their animals that they managed to move to the hay loft of their barn before the flood.

The river has destroyed all of their fencing and animal homes (with the exception of the barn), a covered deck, all of their gardens, firewood and hay. This is just the beginning of the overwhelming pile of losses they will have to replace. Not to mention the loss of income and cost of temporary housing for the family members that evacuated.

These folks are some of the kindest and most generous people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. They have poured their whole hearts into cultivating this homestead and creating a dream place to teach, feed and raise their families.

They will greatly appreciate any help that we can offer them and their animals in this time.
