Floods in Weligama, Sri Lanka

With the recent floods in Sri Lanka’s Weligama region, the folks at Savi Jaya Development Foundation are helping those affected with the rebuild and providing much needed ongoing support. With homes and farms damaged, many people have found themselves without shelter or work. This comes at a time of economic crisis across the country, with the cost of goods skyrocketing meaning many local people are unable to access essentials.

I’ll be volunteering with the organisation for the next month and would love to raise some money to help out the community during the recovery. If you’re in a position to donate, even just a few dollars will go a long way!

A bit about the org:

The Savi Jaya Development Foundation is a locally run organisation based in Weligama, Sri Lanka, dedicated to supporting the education of local children and young adults, as well as assisting the most at-risk families in times of crisis. Savi Jaya was established in 2010 under the leadership of Janaka Loronso Hewa, a young man from Weligama committed to improving the lives of people in his community.
