Support Live Music at the Tango Barn!

Update! (The original campaign is below.)

As a lot of you know, back in 2022 we – the Tango Community of Seattle and beyond – collected enough money to fix the Tango Barn floor and help turn it into a unique place for Tango events! A magical place where Tango dancers, musicians, singers, and art lovers come together to socialize and dance.

Now we can enjoy this special venue every spring, summer and early fall!

Every year, the owners Joseph and Diana Hayes have an amazing line-up of our local and world-renowned tango bands, orchestras, singers, musicians, maestros and maestras scheduled to perform. We have come to rely on the Tango Barn as the venue in Seattle for terrific live music events!

Joe and Diana are trying to keep the admittance costs low to include everyone in the tango community. At the same time, they try to pay the musicians and artistes fairly while also picking up the cost of lodging, meals, transportation and airfare.

Now that the 2025 season schedule has been announced (www.thetangobarn.com), it seems especially important for us to show some support!

You can always reserve a premium table at the Tango Barn to become a sponsor of a particular event! Or you can donate here – all the money goes to paying the artistes and setting-up more live music events for us to enjoy!

Please, help support Live Music at the Tango Barn!

Help build new floor for the beautifully preserved historic barn!

This story is about The Tango Barn created by Joe and Diana Hayes on their farm in Carnation, WA: https://www.facebook.com/broadacres.farm.5

On September 17th, 2021 I attended the Tango Barn for the first time and what a delightful evening that was!

I was amazed at the transformation that took place to turn an old barn into a warm and welcoming Tango venue! To say that the owners, Joe and Diana, did a great job is an understatement. I felt so much love and care the moment I stepped inside the door! Plush couches, full-size mirrors, red velvet curtains, exclusive paintings, wooden tables, tufted chairs, the sound system, the ambience, the wine, and all the delicious food they cooked right before everyone showed up… I was speechless! Observing and talking to people around me, I realized a lot of them were as impressed as I was!

And I had an idea. I saw a possibility for us, tango people and art lovers around the world, to help someone who already invested a lot in building a venue for us. As I was enjoying the night, I could not help but wonder: THERE’S GOT TO BE SOMETHING WE CAN DO ABOUT THAT FLOOR! For us dancers, 2 of the most important things are the floor and the music. Joe had a wonderful audio system installed, the sound is great! Now, about the floor…

I know, Joe and Diana are not asking us to help with the new floor. And let’s not wait for it! Let us be the good people that we always are – let’s help! They already did an amazing job preserving a historical barn! They created a lovely venue for us, combining the charm of an old American farm with the art of Tango!

I kept thinking, sure, as a tango community of skillful, intelligent, generous, charitable, supportive people we could figure something out to help with the new floor! This could be a terrific venue for all sorts of spring-summer-early-fall events: Milongas, classes, concerts, performances, live music, an art gallery, a mini-marathon and what not!

Wouldn’t it be absolutely dreamy – Tango Barn with the perfect dance floor, just 30 mins away from Seattle!? Tango tourist be like: Pike Place Market, Space Needle, China Harbor, Tango Barn!

I mean, when Latin Grammy nominated bandoneon player Hugo Satorre was touring the West Coast with Winnie Cheung in the fall of 2021, their best performance in Seattle – a truly warm and intimate concert (not just a Milonga with live music) – was at the Tango Barn! This can become an iconic venue for our community! All we need to do is help update the floor!
