Help Bring Sarah Flora Beers to a City Near You

Donation protected

UPDATE AS OF MAY 9TH: Though the original plan was to continue using the Flora Brewing name to release the beers commercially, we can no longer use that name unfortunately due to a recent C&D from a brewery with a similar name. In light of this and looking positively at this opportunity to be a way to separate the homebrewing side of things with my commercial brews, and rebrand The Brewery Formerly Known As Flora Brewing. The downside though is now we have to reprint materials, toss our old labels, redesign everything, hire a lawyer, and update and rebrand a lot of our content, website, etc., those expenses add up…and those are funds we currently don’t have as a startup. Anything you're able to contribute helps us make this dream a reality and hopefully bring our brews to a city near you.

MORE ABOUT THIS FUNDRAISER:

Hello, I'm Sarah Flora. You may know me as Flora Brewing on YouTube, Instagram or Patreon. I'm a Los Angeles-based homebrewer who is planning to go commercial this year and I could use your help in making my dream a reality. About six years ago, I purchased a homebrew kit as a gift for my husband, but little did I know it would become my new hobby and the start of my next career. I currently run operations for an art gallery by day, and before I start work and on my days off, you'll find me brewing and documenting every stage of the process through my YouTube channel. Since I started brewing, I've been posting brewing tutorials, and equipment reviews, and trying to offer whatever advice I can to the homebrew community. It has been amazing to see the response and how my videos are helping folks! Now with 28K subscribers on YouTube and over 2M views, 41K Followers on Instagram, and my very own Patreon, it has been an incredible journey to connect with other homebrewers, offer help where I can, and expand my love of brewing into more than a hobby now. My goal is to start contract brewing nationwide and eventually open a physical location. In order to accomplish this, there are a ton of expenses to launch in the commercial space. With your donation, you would be helping me take the next step in officially helping me, Sarah Flora, transition into a commercial brewer and release my beers around the globe.

Though the original plan was to continue using the Flora Brewing name to release the beers commercially, we can no longer use that name unfortunately due to a recent C&D from a similar brewery. In light of this and looking positively at this opportunity to be a way to separate the homebrewing side of things with my commercial brews, and rebrand the brewery formerly known as Flora Brewing. The downside though is now we have to reprint materials, toss our old labels, redesign everything, hire a lawyer and update and rebrand a lot of our content, website, etc., those expenses add up…and those are funds we currently don’t have as a startup. As I discuss with my colleague Ash about the next steps, we are grateful for any support right now as we rebrand, find resources to cover legal fees, and try to find ways to cover a lot of expenses including materials, marketing collateral, label designs, merch, and so on.

BTW did you know less than three percent of breweries are solely owned by women? Let’s change that! I appreciate any help in spreading the word and continuing to make the Brewery Formerly Known as Flora Brewing a reality! And no, that’s not the new name.

This year, I am working on a collaboration with Pilot Project Brewing in Chicago, an incubator brewery for up-and-coming brewers/creators, who will be the production facility for my first year of brewing commercially. It will officially kick off in Spring 2023 with four commercial brews.

For reference, here are some of the costs associated with what was mentioned above:

  • Legal Assistance including LLC and Trademark: $5,000
  • Label Artwork (for 4 beers): $5,000
  • Travel and accommodations for me and my business partner to and from the production facility and release events: $5,000
  • Insurance: $1,000
  • Sales, Marketing & PR: $8,000
  • Event and Promotional Materials/Collateral, and Merchandise $2,000
  • Ingredients: $5,000
