At the end of July, Flor Macias, the dearest of mothers and wives, was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer. When they found the tumor in her colon, the cancer had already spread to her liver. The doctors determined that chemo would be the best approach, hoping that after six months, the tumors in her colon and liver would shrink enough that they could be surgically removed. Liver tumors are especially risky to remove because sometimes the liver may not grow back fully, and the doctors need to leave enough behind for the liver to continue to function adequately. Flor, her husband, and their three kids have to wait and pray.

Flor only qualifies for partial coverage through Medicaid. To cover the costs of her chemo alone will be upwards of $50,000. She is too sick and weak from the cancer and treatments to go back to work. Amidst caring for Flor, her husband is doing everything he can to make more money, but it isn’t enough to cover the cost of treatment.

We need your help today. And we will be forever grateful for your sacrifice, no matter how big or small. Even $1 does make a difference!  It is our hope that through this experience, we can surrender to generosity and find ourselves all a little more connected to one another. Thank you! Love, light, and blessings.

“In the end, though, maybe we must all give up trying to pay back the people in this world who sustain our lives. In the end, maybe it's wiser to surrender before the miraculous scope of human generosity and to just keep saying thank you, forever and sincerely, for as long as we have voices.” Elizabeth Gilbert
