Dana Pope's mother, Josie Keane's, final journey.
Donation protected
As some of you may know, Dana’s mother Josie went back to visit her homeland Puerto Rico for the holidays on December 27th. Only a few days after completing her last batch of Puerto Rican coquito! The day after she got there she had a stroke and a heart attack that landed her in one of San Juan’s private hospitals. Dana traveled to Puerto Rico for a few days to speak with the doctors and be with her mother during her recovery.
Once Dana returned home to North Carolina, plans for discharge of Josie were discussed and her return to the United States was being arranged. On the day day Dana returned Josie was diagnosed with Covid. Due to her current and previous health conditions, her prognosis is terminal and she remains on life support.
Dana has flown back to Puerto Rico to be by her mothers bedside and the decision has been made to let her go peacefully.
The unexpected travel expenses and sudden financial burden has already taken its toll on the family. She would like her husband by her side and would also like to have her brother to be able to fly out to Puerto Rico as well so a proper burial may take place with the family that remains on the island.
