Flying LA Shelter Dogs to Juneau, Alaska

Hi everyone!

Because of the fires in Los Angeles (L.A.) County, the animal shelters there were looking for help getting shelter animals out to make room for those affected by the fires. I approached Juneau Animal Rescue about taking a few animals from Palmdale Shelter in L.A. County to help. The shelter in Palmdale has one of the highest euthanasia rates in L.A. County due to the incredibly high volume of animals they receive. Working with Palmdale Shelter staff, we were able to select three amazing dogs to come north to Alaska: Pepper, Jackie, and Homer.

With the help of networkers, short term fosters, transporters, and a close friend of ours, we were able to get the dogs out of the shelters, put them in short term fosters, take them to the vet for health certificates, book our flights and arrive in Juneau on Saturday (January 25th) night.

This GoFundMe is to help cover the costs of getting these wonderful animals to Juneau Animal Rescue where they will be adopted out to loving homes and do not face the euthanasia risk that they would in Palmdale. My husband and I fronted these costs as we felt this was an important rescue mission. This covers flights (human and dogs), gas money, crates, food and water bowls (and treats) for the dogs. I donated my flight miles for part of my ticket and Juneau Animal Rescue covered the costs of the health certificates required for Pepper and Jackie.
