Sam’s Passing
After almost a decade of struggling with depression, anxiety, and addiction, our beloved brother, son, cousin, and friend, Sam Fagan, lost his battle in this life on Saturday April 8th.
After being found, CPR was performed, and Sam was able to be revived long enough to be brought to the hospital, where he was placed on life support. However, it was found that he had sustained catastrophic brain damage and, sadly, was not able to recover.
We granted Sam his final wish of letting his body serve a higher purpose and help save the lives of others through organ donation. He remained on life support until accommodations were made to help those in need. His celebration of life will be on Saturday, April 22 from 2-4 pm.
Sam is the fourth child and oldest boy in the Fagan family of nine kids. Sam was extremely smart, quick with a witty comment, charismatic, kind, funny, loyal, brave (or maybe fearless is a better word), and firmly opinionated. He would give anything he had to anyone in need. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Not by coincidence but by miracle, Sam and his cousin Jessica, who needed a kidney transplant to save her life and quality of life, were a perfect match. So Sam’s very best kidney went to her because she called dibs! She's been waiting for this for a long time and promises to take really good care of it. She also says she's going to get a life-sized cutout of Sam and take him around the world with her...and she really gets around!!!
His (less best ) other kidney and pancreas were received by a woman in her 30s who will hopefully no longer have the burden of Type 1 diabetes. Her family will also be hugely blessed with less risk of their family member dying due to complications of diabetes.
Sam's liver blessed a man in his 40s from California, who was likely struggling greatly, just like Jessica was 6 months ago before her liver gift came.
The gift of his heart is a miraculous story for another day, but it will bless the lives of MANY and has already started working miracles in our family.
Although this does not bring him back, any monetary donations will go toward travel for family members to be near him to say goodbye and be with each other at this difficult time, expenses associated with memorializing his passing, and allowing his loved ones to disperse his ashes in areas of deep meaning for them..
We appreciate your love and support, and we know we will see Sam again one day free of the pain and challenge of this world.
