Donate to Black Lives Matter Movement by Treasure & Jelissa!

The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation was founded by 3 black women back in 2013 it’s a nonprofit civil rights organization its purpose is to promote the black lives matter movement. The women who founded it were Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors, and Opal Tometi; they started it in response to false allegations against George ZImmerman in the shooting and death of Trayvon Martin. We choose this organization to donate the money to because it’s a real problem in the world which we feel is often overlooked. It doesn't get as much attention nor action as it should. Everyone knows it's a big problem but what are they doing to actually fix the problem? We decided to start a go fund me after reading the book “how it went down” which is about a 16 year old black kid getting shot by a white man. Everyone had their own version of what happened, some say he had a gun and others said it was a snickers bar. The shooter Jack Franklin fled the scene and was arrested soon after but was released pretty quickly after claiming self-defense this was unjust if the roles were reversed and a black kid killed a white kid everyone would want him to be prosecuted to the highest extent and saying it was self-defense wouldn’t have gotten them released that fast the police would have done more digging to make sure it was what they said it was. Things like this happen in the real world almost everyday and nobody bats an eye so this is our way of turning our passion into action.
