Help Reno Food Not Bombs with Hospital Bills
Donation protected
Family Soup Mutual Aid is devastated to hear about the horrific attack on our Comrades from Food Not Bombs Reno that occurred on Monday, April 3, 2023, during their weekly food distribution. Two Food Not Bombs organizers, Diamond and Clarissa, were severely injured and remain hospitalized, while a third victim, Michell (Shelli) Jardine Blare, an unsheltered woman, lost her life in the tragic incident. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families during this difficult time.
FSMA, who are comrades and extended family of FNB Reno, created this fundraising campaign with the support and approval of FNB Reno (and the family of the victims) to help cover expenses and costs associated with this senseless act of violence. Money will be deposited by FSMA via GoFundMe into a special account that has been set up by Diamond and will be distributed directly by Diamond to herself, Clarissa (who is Diamonds daughter), and Angie directly.
Collaboratively, FSMA and FNB Reno have pledged money will go directly to the medical bills and any related expenses of the victims. Diamond and Clarissa will be recovering for quite some time as their injuries were extensive, and will be unable to work for the foreseeable future. Michell will be supported with assisting her daughter Angie with funeral-related expenses that are not covered as a victim of violent crime or any other available grants/funds.
Should there be money left over, FNB Reno, Diamond, Clarissa, and Angie have vowed to use the money towards community action and advocacy for our unsheltered community. We all recognize that tragedy often brings us together and ignites the flame of action which any extra money will help support.
FNB Reno has been providing essential food resources and support to our local community for years, and it is devastating to see such a heinous act committed against them. Please consider donating to this cause and showing your support for the victims, the incredible work that FNB Reno does, and Michell's legacy. Together, we can make a difference and help bring healing and justice to those affected by this tragedy.
