A message from Matthew Bannister
During this grim and challenging year, two things have sustained me: love and music. As the restrictions seem to stretch interminably ahead of us, venues remain closed and we miss our loved ones more and more – this Festival aims to bring us all together in a virtual joining of hands around the UK and the world – to send and receive love through music. Each artist will sing an original love song, a traditional love song and a cover version of someone else’s love song and when I link them all together, we’ll bring you an astonishing six hours of love songs.
Donate in the name of love
The Festival is free to watch, but if you can, please show your love for musicians by making a donation. Half the money we raise will go to the charity Help Musicians whose work supporting musicians facing severe financial hardship is even more important as the lockdown continues. The other half will be divided equally between the 28 artists who’re taking part in the Festival. And why not make your donation in the name of someone you love? You can post a message to them on our GoFundMe page – and also use the hashtag #FoFLOVE to mention them on social media.
In the words of the song: “What the world needs now is love, sweet love.” Help us to spread it on Valentine’s Day.

How your donations will be processed
This fundraising campaign is run by Matthew Bannister, the host of Folk On Foot, and Owen Ralph, the podcast's Digital Marketing Manager. Once the campaign has closed, Matthew will withdraw the money from GoFundMe directly (under his full name, Richard Matthew Bannister). 50% of the money raised will be shared between the artists, who will be paid directly by bank transfer. The other 50% will be paid directly to Help Musicians UK via bank transfer.
