Food and Knitted Items for Ukraine
Donation protected
This is a repeat journey planned for March/April 2024 to the desperate people of Ukraine. I will pay for my own airfare ($800), travel costs, and lodging, (sometimes in safe houses). The funds will be used to buy food to feed the very hungry people in Eastern Ukraine. I did this last year, with two others who were funded by their church. $2400 will buy two hundred boxes of food for 200 families. I know, because I did it last year. We buy the food in Northern Romania, pack the boxes, then drive 1500 miles (round trip) to the front between Mykolaiv and Kherson to deliver food. I have a reliable guide / driver / translator / interpreter who I trust with my life.
*Revised goal*: $3600. The additional funds to cover the cost of getting diesel fuel and transportation from Northern Romania to the Eastern Ukraine Front (and back!). This would normally have been paid by other mission members, but so far it is only me plus one - the driver/guide/translator. There is room for two more people, if you want to come along. DM me. We fly out on 3/24/2024 and return 4/3/2024. 38 days to prepare.

I'm also bringing knitted items made by the knitters of "Ukraine Knitting Resistance" - (https://www.facebook.com/groups/677333187279723/) mostly hats and scarfs for women and children. No one can do everything that Ukraine needs, but everyone can do something. Warmth is important, and knitted goods travel well. I can't bring food from the US. I must buy food in Romania. It seems like a small goal. Will you help?
I need the money for food, only food. I'm asking for 50 people to donate $48 (or more) to pay for the food. 200 x 1 liters of cooking oil, 200 x 1 liters of shelf-stable milk, 200x 1 kg of wheat flower, 200 x 2 kg of potted meat (like SPAM, but chicken, because not everyone eats pork), breakfast bars, tooth brushes, t.p., sanitizing liquid, etc.
