Covid19 Relief effort in India Food and Sanitation
Donation protected
Due to Covid-19 lockdown in India a lot of poor families who live in the slums are being adversely affected. These people are day laborers and can't afford to buy essential food for their families. Also there are a lot of migrants from other villages and states that are unable to go back to their homes as the transportation is also stopped. They are stuck in the city with no income or work.
Me and my husband Brandon were able to send enough funds to feed nearly 450 families for a week across 10 slums. We did through an NGO called SAPID whom I know personally for more than 15 years and worked with them on different projects. Meera who is the director of SAPID along with her team has been doing a lot of work to alleviate poverty in the slums for the past 34 years. They also added some of their own funds and together we were able to feed more than 800 families for a week.
To each family we donated essentials like rice, flour, lentils, oil, vegetables that they can cook for a week and soap and mask. We are also educating people about sanitation and the preventive measures. Meera and her team goes to each slum and picks families who have small kids and senior citizens before helping others.
There are more families that need help. With your help we can reach these families. We invite you to join hands with us and donate for our less fortunate brothers and sisters. Indian rupees 800 which is nearly $11 can feed a family for a week.
