Support starving farmers in Tembien (Tigray)
Since November 2020, war has been raging in Tigray, an utterly beautiful region in northern Ethiopia. The Tembien province has been heavily affected by warfare and war crimes. There are very low food reserves in the area, as crops had already been infested by locusts just before harvest. Farmer families now live under the threat of bombings, killings, looting and rape, while famine threatens many of the inhabitants.
EthioTrees is originally a project for environmental regeneration that is well-established in the Tembien area (see www.ethiotrees.com/). Under today’s difficult circumstances, EthioTrees is supporting emergency aid for 1500 families. Thanks to our local network, we identified the poorest families; besides we also assist women who have been victim of organized rape and sexual assault.
Large food transports are still at risk of looting by the armed forces. Therefore, EthioTrees provides direct financial assistance to the families. Every donation of 30€ means a real difference for another family in great need.
