Food for Ukrainian refugees in Hungary

Since the war started the whole world has been donating to help Ukrainian refugees. But the summer is here and the situation for a lot of people is getting only worse and honestly, there is less help now than in the beginning.

People who are now in Hungary came here to stay and it will be a while till they get home. A lot of them already have no place to go. Hungary is not easy on refugees, almost no one received their state support payments yet. The payments are very low and if a family needs diapers, baby food, or medicine — that's already off the table because it's too expensive.

We work with Anastasia Chukovskaya, a volunteer from Budapest and we've been supporting her projects. First, with your help, we were able to rent apartments and book hotels for those who have come to Hungary for a couple of days before going further to Europe. We hosted hundreds of people, thank you for that! But since April the situation has changed dramatically.

 

Anastasia started a gift card program. Thanks to your donations it will be possible to go to Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, and Spar stores, buy gift cards and then post them by mail to refugees, staying in the small cities and villages all over Hungary. This way people can decide what they want to eat and buy, they go to the store with the gift card and just do it. It's the easiest way to help!

 

 We have already been able to provide food for more than 50 families a month but we need to do more. Please join us in this effort!
