Food-Drive for families hit by COVID-19 in India

My name is Edwin Hacking and I live in Pacifica, California. I'm creating this GoFundMe campaign to purchase food and live stock for COVID-19 villagers in New Delhi and the Kumaon Hills of India.
Why do I feel a need to take action in India? I’m motivated by the strong connections I felt with the people while traveling to various areas of India, and the recognition that so many are poor and deprived of the opportunities I have.
I recently discovered that hundreds of people are living in refugee camps around the railway stations.
This situation developed as a result of the pandemic. Villagers who have traveled hundreds of miles via railway to work in large cities get the news that their contract work has to end due to a company shut down mainly due to Covid conditions.
Many of these villagers become stranded and become refugees until their situation changes. That means the villagers have no work and no way to get back home to their villages. The Indian government has provided some help to these stranded workers, but it is not nearly enough.
Just recently we decided to use our funds in the Kumaon Hills of Northern India to purchase live-stock in the form of chickens and goats. So far we have distributed 6 chicks to 24 families. Making for a sustainable donation that will be on-going with future eggs, and meat.
I’ve been using my own money to purchase food packets to provide 50 people with 2 days of food twice a month.
This GoFundMe will increase the number of food packets and increase the food so it will last a week. I have a trusted friend in New Delhi who is volunteering his time to purchase and distribute the food packets in New Delhi his hometown. And to purchase the livestock in the Kumaon Hills area.
I know it is a drop in the bucket, but giving someone a glimmer of hope, in the form of a meal and a smile, makes it all worthwhile. It is one way to “Pay it Forward”.
