Foothills Bison Restoration Project
Donation protected
The Foothills Bison Restoration Society's purpose is to promote and facilitate the restoration wild populations of Plains Bison onto their traditional range in public lands in the Alberta foothills. We believe that restoring Bison to Alberta’s Eastern Slopes is an important step towards ecological restoration, reconciliation with Indigenous communities, and renewing cultural and historical connections to Canada’s and Alberta’s post-colonial human history.
We have identified the area centered on the Bob Creek Wildland Provincial Park, located in Alberta's Eastern Slopes approximately 110 kilometers southwest of Calgary, as a logical first place to introduce wild Bison to Alberta public lands. We are in the process of conducting a detailed feasibility study to support any decision to reintroduce Bison to the Bob Creek region and we need resources to accomplish that.
If you support the idea of restoring wild Bison to Alberta public lands or recognize the importance of restoring bison to reconciliation with indigenous communities, please support this initiative by donating now. Your donation will be used to fund a feasibility study of restoring bison in the Bob Creek Wildland Provincial Park.
Finally, if you donate, GoFundMe allows you to specificy how much of your donation goes to GoFundMe with the default being 15 percent. If you want most or all of your donation going to the Foothills Bison Restoration Society you can adjust that amount when you make your donation.
