Footsteps United - Scholarship Fund
Donation protected
We are Footsteps United, a Canadian federally incorporated not-for-profit organization. Our goal is to remove barriers to equal participation and empower current and future generations of Asian-Canadians through sports.
We deeply appreciate your steadfast support throughout the past few years. Thanks to your generous contributions, we've successfully organized three exhilarating sports tournaments, provided hundreds of pieces of sporting equipment to deserving organizations, and heightened awareness for Asian Canadians in the realm of sports.
This year, our primary objective is to establish a scholarship fund for Canadian student athletes. We are counting on your continued support to help us achieve our target of $5,000 by April 7th to fund tuition and youth sports for our scholarship recipients for the upcoming academic year.
In the near future we hope to accomplish the following:
- Expanding our list of offered sports (e.g., volleyball and hockey).
- Operating a mentorship network amongst Asian-Canadian athletes.
- Organizing conferences and speaking events, bringing together the Asian Canadian sports community.
- Producing media geared towards Asian-Canadian athletes.
We hope you can join us for our upcoming basketball tournament which will take place on April 7th, 2024.

Our stories and our experiences are the reason we started this.
As second generation Asian Canadian immigrants, our co-founders grew up playing sports such as soccer, basketball and hockey like most Canadian children. While summers spent on the pitch or winters on the ice or hardwood are some of our fondest memories and likely our athletic primes, we realized that there were very few Asians in these leagues, let alone on our own teams. We believe that sports, in addition to being a fun and healthy activity, has the ability to bring people of different backgrounds and cultures together. Today, we are fortunate enough to live in today’s Canada, a melting pot of heritages and ethnicities, but we understand that there is still work to do to promote diversity and inclusion. We hope that our organization can help be a small part of that continued progress.
Our values are the beliefs, philosophies, and principles that drive our work.
A commitment to fostering inclusivity
A commitment to building a strong Asian community
A commitment to the joy/passion for sports
As stated above, we started Footsteps United because of the importance of Asian representation in athletics. We have a firm commitment to using all of our funds and resources to giving back to our community and working towards our mission. We do not take a salary or any form of compensation from this non-profit. Every single dollar that Footsteps United receives in donations or otherwise will be used towards the goals stated above, and we publish a fully transparent annual report of our finances.
