For a mother, for life, for family, for Tara

A quick update from Tara’s Army!
A LOT has happened and evolved since our last post begging for prayers and asking for some financial support for Tara’s fight against brain cancer.
Her biopsy was performed on Monday, December 5th. She recovered for a few days and then was sent home to continue to recover, rest, and wait for results. As we mentioned before, the waiting game really sucks!
On Thursday, December 15th, we had a follow up scheduled with the Neurosurgeon who performed Tara’s biopsy. At this point, we still didn’t have the full pathology results, but we did get the wind knocked out of us yet again to hear the confirmation that Tara’s brain cancer is in fact, Glioblastoma. And it is likely grade 4. This specific neurosurgeon explained that Tara’s tumor was deep in the left posterior parietal and occipital lobes. It was complex and it extended even deeper into the corpus callosum. She told us that she would not operate. She referred us to the Neuro Oncologist and Neuro Radiologist within the same practice to start to discuss Chemo and Radiation. We took a moment digest this diagnosis together, cry, and embrace each other but quickly realized that there was no time to waste. We shifted gears to researching, making calls, and scheduling appointments.
After a crazy week of appointments and being told by two different facilities that they wouldn’t operate, we received the news we needed! An experienced Neurosurgeon based in Philadelphia… confidently agreed to operate!
On Thursday, December 29th, Tara underwent brain surgery and we received some great news... the neurosurgeon was able to remove the majority of the tumor! While recovering from brain surgery is no easy task, and there have been a few hiccups along the way… Tara is a true fighter and her army hasn’t left her side.
We know that we have a long road ahead of us, including healing, rehab and soon, chemo and radiation. Your prayers, support, and financial giving have left all of us speechless. We are overwhelmed and so very thankful. We continue to remind Tara that she has so many friends, friends of friends, colleagues, and family supporting her on this journey. So again, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
Love,
Tara’s Army
