For Baby August

To our dearest Friends and Family,

As many are aware, our dearest Vafa, Gagan & August are going through one of the most unimaginable experiences. Our dear August was diagnosed with Leukemia just over a month after birth. He's been an absolute champion through his first phase of chemo, transfusions and steroid treatments. He is set to have hernia surgery soon, following his recovery he will begin phase 2 of his treatment.

Phase two of his treatment depends on how many cancer cells they will find in his bone marrow. If there are no cancer cells, August will take a less aggressive treatment for the next two months prior to him inevitably getting a bone marrow transplant. If there is cancer cells in his bone marrow they will go through a much more aggressive chemo to prepare him for his bone marrow transplant. At the moment they are looking for a donar to be a 10/10 match for the transplant, if there is anyone you know that is half Iranian and half Punjabi and is willing to help by donating there stem cells, it will help save baby August's life. Currently Vafa is a 7/10 match and if they can't find the 10/10 match the medical team will be using Vafa as the donar but the risk of his body rejecting his dad's stem cells is much higher and makes the transplant much more difficult on baby August.

He has two strong and incredible parents standing over him and supporting him and has a large network of family and friends praying for them all and providing the utmost support for this beautiful family.

With that said, this means now that Vafa and Gagan will be in and out of the children's hospital for the next 2 and a half years. They have spent the last few months in the hospital every day and will continue for minimum the next 6 months. If bone marrow transplant is successful without any issues, they will be able to bring August home and will need to bring August back and forth to the children's hospital multiple times a week for continued treatment.

We know Vafa and Gagan appreciate everyone's support, whether it's physical or monetary. Even though they don't ask for help in any way and when we ask to help they say they are okay, we are all here to support them however we can. This is the least we can do for our brother and sister, son and daughter, our baby August and their beautiful life ahead.
