Fund for slain veteran's daughter

On Monday, May 22, 2017, Cameron “Jumbo” Caruthers was tragically shot and killed in his hometown of Columbia, Missouri. Like many veterans leaving the greatest thing they feel they’ll ever be a part of, Cameron struggled with depression and turned to alcohol and drugs in the months following his honorable discharge. That being said, when he could have easily allowed himself to become another ‘tick mark’ in the all too common statistic of veteran homelessness and suicide, he hit back. He hit back with power of Tyson in his prime and ‘bobbed and weaved’ with the nimbleness of Ali in his heyday. Cameron got refocused and reinvigorated to live this life with a purpose, to focus on his little girl, Kiley, and to provide for her to the best of his abilities. Shortly before this paratrooper “slipped away,” he graduated from Missouri Welding Institute’s ‘Master Pipe Welding and Fitting’ course, preparing him for journeyman level work in the manufacturing and shop area industry.
Kiley’s 10th birthday was May 23, less than 24hrs following her dad’s untimely demise. In an attempt to help support Kiley when Cameron can no longer, his brothers in arms have started this gofundme. The funds raised through this campaign will be used to purchase a bond in Kiley’s name and will be presented to her and family at it’s close. Regardless of the inconvenience it was to him, Cameron would do whatever he could to help a friend in need. My plea to you is to give whatever you can, $1 or $1,000, every bit helps.
Eight years from now when Kiley gains control of this bond, we hope that it serves as more than just a device of monetary gains. But, as a reminder of the lives her father touched and the character of those he called ‘Brothers’ in his greatest time of need.
