For Camille with Love 2018
Donation protected
Thank You for viewing our campaign and for any considerations, prayers, donations or offerings of support you may afford us. Camille, our youngest daughter, was, after a normal pregnancy, born via emergency C-section due to her last moment shift to breech position. A leg length discrepancy was noticed immediately by her attending NICU RNs. We quickly came to learn that Camille was born with a congenital short leg or Congenital Femoral Deficiency (CFD), which is a rare birth defect that is characterized by a short femur and associated with hip and knee deformity, deficiency, or instability. Hers is a more severe type that was previously known as Proximal Femoral Focal Deficiency (PFFD). To date, we have seen various orthopedists in Oregon as well as California. Her treatment has included many X rays, ultra sounds, a sedated MRI and much Physical Therapy. Treatment options presented us have included amputation, rotation plasty and partial amputation and bone lengthening. In order to prepare for bone lengthening she received corrective “Super-Hip” surgery in June of 2017 at Loma Linda University Hospital. This surgery was pursued in order to correct her hip dysplasia, cut and straighten her femur and prepare her for starting the leg lengthening process. Her surgery was complicated by infection and a difficult recovery, which required an extended stay in California and the separation of our family for months. We are extremely grateful for the multitude of support received at that time, that enabled us to endure this challenge with which we were presented.
We are asking for your prayers, donations and support of love again, as Camille will have her first limb lengthening surgery at Loma Linda University Hospital in California this November of 2018. We truly appreciate any support, knowing that Camille is our responsibility, yet having the awareness that we truly cannot manage this alone. This surgery will entail cutting her bone, implanting a fixator system that works as a scaffolding to support her leg. She will have immediate Physical Therapy and it is estimated that we will be located in the vicinity of the treatment facilities for a period of at least 3-5 months and possibly longer depending on her progress. It is difficult to ask for help, but we have the challenge of our older daughter remaining in school, being separated as a family for months, meeting our routine expenses, as well as, the exceptional bills associated with medical expenses, travel and housing. We will incur these expenses all whilst receiving half our normal income. On our end, we conserve our resources, have sold assets such as musical instruments and recreational vehicles. We do intend to offer additional musical instruments and amplifiers for campaign donations or to sell items to support the campaign. We are eternally grateful to our friends, family and the kindness of complete strangers. Your love and the Grace of God have enabled us to endure this challenge thus far and it is our hope that the grace and support will continue to somehow carry us through the upcoming surgeries. Please know that all well wishes, prayers and even the smallest of donations are appreciated. With tears of gratitude and appreciations for not having to face this challenge alone, we thank you.
