For Displaced Sudanese Queer & Trans Folx

Donation protected
What is happening?
In April 2023, Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces and the Sudanese Armed Forces (both heavily armed forces) waged a war against each other to rule over -already in a precarious situation- Sudan. Everyone was forced to flee the air strikes, bombings, shootings, rape, robbery, kidnapping, and murder, with nothing but the clothes on their backs & bodies. Some lost loved ones along the way.

Needless to say, in fleeing Sudan the roads were unsafe; due to the presence of armed and paramilitary forces in dispute shifting their frontlines and war zone blockading of roads, while they both indiscriminately committed human rights violations (including robbery, rape, harassment, and murder). On arrival to 'safer' lands like Egypt. Sudanese queer and trans folx faced abrupt changes in the hosting countries’ imperially contrived border politics and regulations regarding their entry including but not limited to anti-black discrimination.

Queer and Trans individuals were affected the most inside and outside of Sudan. Young and old, coupled, alone, parents and with their siblings and/or families, were faced with a lack of queer/trans sensitive support, the collapse of their non-biological kinship networks, shortages of funds in humanitarian-aid entities, as well as racial, gendered, and sexual-based violence (psychological, economical, medical, institutional, physical, etc).

A large number of these Queer and Trans individuals (youth mostly) fled to Egypt, where it’s already dangerous to be Queer/Trans (whether one is an Egyptianal national or foreigner). Queer/Trans Individuals in Egypt face daily various forms of violence from attacks in public spaces like bullying and thuggery, harassment, entrapment, arrest, and indefinite imprisonment.

Who is this for and who we are:
As a horizontal mutual aid "No Strings Attached" is comprised of a collective of Sudanese and Egyptian scholars & activists. We are involved global Queer networks and organizing, Feminist, solidarity groups, social and academic both in Sudan and in Egypt. This is how we got to know the individuals in need.

We are raising funds to economically support disenfranchised & underprivileged Sudanese Queer/Trans (Individuals and Trans/Queer parents) that we already know and have developed relations with.
The mutual aid solidarity will be provided in person after the donations are collected, and directed at providing support in areas that have a shortage of services towards uplifting Sudanese Queer/Trans individuals inside Egypt and Sudan. Namely:
  • Relocation
  • Internal Travel Expences
  • Rental expenses
  • Living expenses (including clothes and food)
  • Technological support (mainly computers and mobile phones)
  • Communication expenses
  • Legal support (such as official paper fees, lawyers’ fees, visa expenses, Passport renewal fees…etc.)
  • Medical (i.e Money for medical supplies)

Transparency and Accountability
As a horizontal collective ("No Strings Atrached") we hold ourselves & are open to being held accountable to our donors/supportes in the aforementioned ways to deliver the donation according to the criteria we mentioned above.
