Rodolfo (Dol) Nabong’s Surgery-Philippines
Donation protected
As you know Rodolfo (Dol) Nabong, my brother is in the Philippines. During his stay there, he has been hospitalized. Last week, Sept 18 (US time-Sept 19 Philippine time) he had another health issue. He had seizure and was rushed to Villaflor Hospital in Dagupan. He has undergone CT Scan and MRI a few days ago. The results show he has chronic subdural hematoma (blood clot outside the brain). Doctor mentioned that it is big. He has to undergo surgery to remove the blood clot. Per doctor and my research, subdural hematoma is a collection of blood outside the brain. Subdural hematoma are usually caused by severe head injuries. The bleeding and increased pressure on the brain from a subdural hematoma can be life-threatening.
Thought about maybe I should just bring him back here in the US for the surgery but the doctor won’t clear him to travel by plane. It is dangerous!
While in the Philippines, Veterans Medical will not cover his medical expenses because he does not qualify outside US. The veterans coverage policy on foreign countries had changed and we weren’t aware of this prior to his moving to the Philippines.
The way it works in the Philippines is they won’t do a procedure until you put 40% down. Same thing with your stay, tests they have to perform and medications. They will always ask for partial payment.
The quote hospital gave me for the procedure alone and the surgeon is $6,800-$7,800. That’s excluding his stay at the hospital, medications and equipments they may need to use. He is at the ICU right now and the room cost $287-$384 per day. Thou he has Philhealth and senior discount, only a certain percentage is covered!
Desperate and though embarrassed to ask for help, I am reaching out to you for a little financial support! Any amount you can donate will be a big help. And please don’t feel burdened by this if you are unable to contribute. We totally understand.
Please don’t hesitate to call or text me if you have any questions or need more information. My cell [phone redacted] or Raymond [phone redacted].
Love,
Ruth and Raymond
