Mourning Mother Seeks Justice and Support on the First Anniversary of Son's Tragic Death

July 3, 2023 marked the first anniversary of the devastating loss of Zamari Wilson, a vibrant 12-year-old boy who tragically drowned at Virginia Beach. Zamari's mother, Brenda Eason (Wilson), continues to mourn her beloved son while seeking justice and support for her family during this difficult time.

The Fourth of July weekend in 2022 was meant to be a joyful family vacation at Virginia Beach for Zamari and his loved ones. However, tragedy struck when Zamari began to struggle in the water, and despite the frantic efforts of his family, volunteers and the search and rescue team, his lifeless body was recovered hours later. Shockingly, no lifeguards were present at the beach, no signs advising guests of their absence nor any warnings regarding any dangerous conditions in the water were present, to prevent such a tragedy from occurring.

As the warmer weather and the anniversary of Zamari's untimely passing is here, the family is forced to relive the horrific memories of that fateful day. Adding insult to injury, the Delta Marriott in Virginia Beach, where the family stayed last summer, has callously refused to offer any form of settlement or closure to the grieving family. While no amount of compensation can replace Zamari's precious life, a gesture of sympathy would have provided some solace to his mourning family.

Astoundingly, the resort still neglects to employ any lifeguards to ensure the safety of their guests, despite charging exorbitant rates starting at $400 per night. The absence of lifeguards at Virginia Beach is inexcusable, especially considering the alarming number of drownings that have occurred there over the years. The resort's claim that guests assume the risk of drowning while at the beach demonstrates their utter insensitivity and refusal to accept responsibility for their guests' lives.

Tragically, Zamari's death is not an isolated incident. On the same day last summer, a 44-year-old man also drowned at Virginia Beach, further highlighting the urgent need for lifeguards. Virginia Beach now deserves the unfortunate nickname "Death Beach" due to the alarming frequency of drownings. It is clear that if one finds themselves struggling in the water at Death Beach, they cannot rely on the presence of a lifeguard to save them.

Moreover, it is disheartening to learn that when Zamari first began to struggle in the water, two men, who appeared to be Delta Marriott Hotel employees, dismissed the severity of the situation, assuring that the water was shallow and that Zamari would be ok. No precautionary signs or safety measures were in place to inform swimmers of potential hazards or limitations. It is simply incomprehensible that a beach destination would lack basic safety measures to prevent drowning incidents.

As Zamari's family tries to navigate life without him, they strive to preserve his dreams and aspirations. Zamari was a talented artist, musician, and aspiring actor who already displayed exceptional skills in these fields at a young age. He had a vision of supporting his family through his artistic endeavors, and his mother, Brenda, continues to promote and honor his legacy through "Zamari's World." This platform showcases Zamari's extraordinary artwork, including NFTs, mixtape covers, merchandise, and photography. Zamari's dreams can only be realized with the support and funding necessary to propel "Zamari's World" forward.

The family kindly requests any contribution from individuals who are moved by Zamari's story and wish to help bring his dreams to life. Additionally, please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this painful journey. For further information or to contribute, please contact Brenda Eason at [phone redacted]
