Atlantic Solo Challenge

Hello, my name is Krystian and I am a young boat builder whose biggest life goal is to sail around the world alone. I love making things with whatever materials I have on hand. I currently live and create in Manchester.

To sail around the world on a self-made boat is a huge goal that is hard to accomplish without your help and my hard work.

As a person with a very limited budget I decided to split my goal into a few smaller ones to give myself a chance to start my adventure. For a start I decided to build a small boat with whatever I have on hand in my studio flat where I live.

Everyone around me kept saying I'm crazy and my dream is unreachable but I didn't let it break me. I realised that experience and knowledge are very important so I came up with a crazy idea to build a paper boat and sail 100km on it

to gain experience.

Because I dedicated myself to this project with great enthusiasm I quickly filled up the space in my studio flat with the trial boats, so now me and my girlfriend (small upgrade: ex now) are struggling to function in it properly. I turned our studio flat into a shipyard, I sand all the elements in the bathroom which isn't healthy but at the moment it's the only way I can do it. This is why one of the reasons for this fundraiser is to rent a garage where I could build my boats and finally live on an acceptable level.

So far from my own funds, I made five boats; one of them is nearly finished and will debut soon.

In the photographs you can see my creations, many of them are far from my main goal but I am very proud of the progress I made since I took up the biggest challenge in my life.

Here is a list of goals I would like to raise funds for:

1- to rent a garage where I would be able to build and keep my boat (I currently make in my tiny studio flat)

2- to sail 100km on a paper boat

3- Upgrade the current boat and sail across:

a) the English Channel

b) the Irish Sea

c) the North Sea

4- Sailing across the Atlantic ocean to meet Elon Musk.

5- to sail to Iceland and visit Scandinavian countries

6- to sail across the Mediterranean Sea and visit the countries around it

7- to build the final boat for the trip around the world

8- Sailing solo around the world alone.

Undoubtedly I will face many challenges and even more hard work, but in my opinion, it is worth taking this challenge and trusting people, and sharing my dreams with them.
