Hello all my name is Jermond Dukes I’m here asking for help to support a dear friend of mine who lost her daughter Leya in a tragic event.
Please consider donating to this go fund me to properly funeralize Leya and to allow her mother, Bre Carter, the necessary means to care for herself and her two other children while she grieves.
Aaleya Carter, lovingly known as, #Leya, she was a happy child who spent her days singing and doing TikTok videos with her siblings and her mom. Always with a smile and sporting her favorite color pink, Leya was super excited about turning 12 on July 7th and celebrating her birthday surrounded by her closest family and friends. Unfortunately, Leya’s life was tragically cut short on Saturday July 10th at 1:30 am when the family’s vehicle was swept into a concrete drain cover by water on Interstate 70 near Airflight Drive during a flash flood. Although Leya’s mother was able to heroically get two of Leya’s siblings out of the vehicle and onto the roof of the car, Leya got caught by the flood water and was swept into a storm outlet.
Bre Carter rallied the help of the STL community to bring her baby home and hundreds of community members started the search for Leya early Saturday morning. Bre promised to find her baby, and just that was done mid-day on Saturday. Leya was located in Coldwater Creek in Hazelwood, MO, and unfortunately, she had passed away.
This was such a tragic event and right now what the family needs most is our support as a community and just time. We know that this story touches the heart of many, and although we cannot bring Aaleya back we will surround her mother and siblings with love to show them that we as a community do care. An extended thank you to the community for the search and rescue efforts and for the outpour of support during this incredibly difficult time. God Bless you all!
Rest in Heaven Leya!
