For Love of Leah
Donation protected
Leah was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia, a life-threatening illness that is a type of bone marrow failure. Leah's immune system is attacking her bone marrow leaving it unable to produce enough red cells, white cells and platelets, making her vulnerable to infections and bleeding.
Aplastic Anemia is not a cancer, however, the treatments for Aplastic Anemia are quite similar. On February 10th, Leah started immunosuppressive therapy with the hope that it will put the disease into remission. There is no guarantee and it will be several months before she will know if it is working. A relapse is possible at any time, if that should occur a bone marrow transplant is necessary. Currently, a bone marrow transplant is the only cure for Aplastic Anemia.
The funds raised will be used for Leah's medical expenses, as well as any other costs that she may incur from traveling to the hospital to feeding herself. As you can imagine, Leah is not able to work in this compromised state.
Thank you for your support and stay well!
