For Matt Walker battling life-threatening illness

Hi, my name is Niki Carpenter and this fundraiser is for our good friends Diane and Matt Walker.

Matt was diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition on September 9, 2023. Complications of his condition have caused him to be admitted to the hospital twice, most recently to the ICU. He’s been unable to work since his diagnosis and may not be able to work for some time. Unfortunately, he still has a mortgage, utility expenses, and medical bills that he's responsible for.

Matt is a Hotchkiss native and graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1996. He spent his summers cooking at Zach’s BBQ during high school and college, while he attended the new culinary program at Mesa State College. He’s cooked for Twin Peaks restaurant for several years at their location in Broomfield and had recently taken on a new role training staff at new locations when he became sick. Matt has a wonderful sense of humor, is a hard worker, and a great cook. He is also quite creative in his hobbies of sewing, stitching, and quilting, and has designed many of his own patterns.

Matt’s mother, Diane, has been traveling back and forth between Denver and Hotchkiss since Matt became sick. She’s been an integral part of the Hotchkiss Fire District as treasurer and board member for many years. She makes sure all the firefighters get paid and is always ready to help others. Lately, she has been spending most of her time on the Front Range to provide care and support for her son.
