For my dad, Bob Epperson

On Friday evening I received the worst phone call of my life. My dads work found him at his desk unresponsive, and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. We have been told he has had multiple mini strokes on both sides of his brain and a major stroke in the middle of his brain affecting both sides as well. Right now only time will tell where this journey is going to take us.

UPDATE

Today, May 25, 2023 my dad had another CT scan that showed he has had another stroke on the left side of his brain. This more than likely happened within the last 24 hours. It also showed that the swelling is getting worse. He hasn't woken up since he was found unresponsive at work last Friday. We also found out that he has congestive heart failure. His heart is only working about 30 percent as to where ours would be working between 60 and 70 percent. So his blood is just sitting there in his heart and forming these clots, which is why he had another stroke. They say this will more than likely keep happening because of that. Please continue to pray.

Today has been one week. One week since I got a phone call I was never prepared to get. One week of not talking to my dad. One week of not hearing my dads voice. One week that Id never wish on anyone. Not giving up on him. Praying for a miracle.

It has been 2 weeks since my dad had a stroke. We are officially down to having to make the decision to trach and peg or let him go. I know he wouldn't want the trach, and I know he wouldn't want to be in a home and not be able to live a normal life, especially if he is never going to wake up. His mid brain including the brain stem and thalamic has been damaged and still hasn't woken up.
