Dixie 21 weeks old needs life saving treatment!

Dixie is 21 weeks old. Up until 01/04/23 she was a thriving little lady and a ball of energy, a great companion to her older sister Dottie.

Unfortunately she became unwell with vomiting and was seen by the vets and prescribed anti sickness and anti inflammatory injections. Sadly Dixie deteriorated early hours the 02/04/24

She was rushed to the out of hours veterinary hospital where she has remained in ITU until 05/04/23.

It has been touch and go and Dixie continues to battle on. She has struggled with a high fever, paralysis took too her hind legs and has been unable to eat and drink independently. With the help of all your donations so far she has been treated with antibiotics, anti inflammatories and steroid treatment and 24 hour nursing care.

Dixie has today returned home, still unable to use her hind legs or mobilise, continuing all the above treatment. She needs 24 hour care regular turns and assistance via syringe to administer the very small of food she will eat. Her fever remains stable and she is now drinking independently and showing signs of feelings in her legs.

The vets believe this condition could be due to disc disease and she will require an MRI to confirm this and get her the right treatment. If Dixie continues responding to her current treatment she would be suitable for potential surgery. This has been a heartbreaking time for us as a family and we are internally grateful for everyone who continues to share and donate.
