For our beautiful Emily and her Family

Dear fellow friends, colleagues, family and compassionate strangers,

My name is Nickiah and I amongst many others, have had the privilege of knowing and working alongside our amazing friend, nurse, daughter, wife to husband Mark and mother to Ella and Mia, the beautiful Emily Hodgkinson.

Emily was diagnosed with a very rare mutation of ovarian cancer, to which she has had to take extended time off work as an incredible nurse at Noosa Hospital Intensive Care. Emily has had numerous surgeries, treatments, trial therapies and multiple trips to Brisbane and Sunshine Coast hospitals over the last 6 months, all of which have ultimately given her more time to spend with her beautiful family.

It is with heavy hearts that we share this devastating news about our dear friend. After a courageous battle, doctors have informed Emily and her loved ones that there are no more treatment options available for her. This news has left Emily, her family, and all of us in shock and profound sadness.

Emily has always been a beacon of light in our lives. Her kindness, strength, and unwavering positivity have touched everyone who knows her. She’s been a loving friend, a supportive family member, an amazing nurse, and an incredible source of inspiration. Now, it’s our turn to be there for her.

As Emily faces this incredibly challenging time, her family is also facing immense emotional and financial strain. The costs associated with end-of-life care, medical expenses, and ensuring that Emily’s remaining time is as comfortable and peaceful as possible are overwhelming. We want to help alleviate some of this burden and allow her family to focus on what truly matters—spending precious moments with Emily and finding strength in each other.
