For our friend Adi
Donation protected
On Saturday 18th July, we lost our dear and treasured friend and colleague, Adi Lewanituva.
The devastating news of her sudden and untimely passing was met with immense shock, sadness and heartache by the many friends, colleagues and all who knew her at the Ridgeway Hospital.
Adi was quite simply unique in so many ways.
She had an incredible presence of serenity and calm that was mirrored in her kind, gentle voice and touch. Never floundering or flustered, she instilled comfort and trust not only in her patients, but in the friends and colleagues she worked with. New staff gravitated towards her, as she gently supported and nurtured them, leading by example. Those of us who were fortunate to work with her longer, knew her as our Rock and Shining Star. Always there…. solid, reliable and incredibly supportive. She would absorb the pressures of a busy day with the wave of a hand and the quietly spoken words “Don’t worry, I will sort it” And she always did.
Adi has left behind a huge and humbling legacy through her kind, caring and gentle character. She is indeed a shining example to us all and will always hold a special place in all our hearts.
As a tribute her, we'd like to raise funds to purchase a memorial bench to be placed at her favourite spot in hospital grounds, so those can come to sit for a calm moment and remember her fondly. Any money that exceeds the cost of the bench will be donated to British Heart Foundation.
