For Papa Ed Salas

Our beloved dad Ed has had quite a journey, and will have an even longer one after today. We ask for continued prayers and support in any form. For this platform we’ve opted to create this support for our family to be able to be by our dads bedside through this difficult time. And when it’s time, to bring him home and thereafter. Our dad is in Hawaii, right now. His journey started in Kona, visiting family and friends, when he was feeling under the weather. With plenty of recommendations, he went and got checked out and was admitted for pneumonia. After a couple days, more extensive measures were taken due to a lack of oxygen intake, and he was admitted to ICU. In this time, they found a blood clot behind his right knee. He then had to be transferred to Oahu for surgery to remove the blood clot. Post surgery had his body pulling in every direction, stressed it to its core, and he was medically induced into a coma. We had a small window of time for the possibility of major improvement. Miraculously, dad pulled through and woke up. Still regaining his strength with every hour, his right leg lost the battle of tissue recovery and needs to be amputated. The journey is long, but the will and strength in our family is stronger. Our dad is awake and speaking and ready for this new life ahead. We are doing our best to support him and each other emotionally.
