For production of FLYING KITES in Chicago

These funds are to be used to produce my play, FLYING KITES at Hopewell MB Church in Chicago in July 2024, in conjunction with Denver Theater Ensemble, where it was workshopped and Stage Read in Fall of 2022. We plan to use funds from the box office receipts to benefit SAMELLA COMMUNITY HOPE CENTER PROJECT. A plan under ATTCOM, All Things Through Christ Outreach Ministries, to provide a low income and underserved community with a new and full service community outreach facility in the Greater Englewood Community. It was our late First Lady Samella McKenzie's dream and she had already obtained the land, architectural blueprints, and the city of Chicago's approval to build. We want to help as much as we can out of love for her, and for her service to the needy of our Englewood community. Many of you donated to the workshop production in Denver that was so well received and we are grateful for you. We pray that you will donate once again to mount the play at Hopewell, then since it's a two person play, put it on in other venues, which may be non traditional theater settings. Your donation will help to get a story out that should be told, and for a purpose bigger than the piaywright, whose years in the Mississippi State Prison at Parchman as a teenager, fuels the story line of two friends, a black boy and black girl trying to find their way through the segregated and brutal south of the fifties and sixties.
