Medical Support for lawyer Kalisto Ladu

After Mt Kalisto was arrested without a warrant by the national security, he is freed without trial, but many calls for advocacy and international pressure, Mr. Kalisto Ladu, the former Mayor of Juba, was released from detention by the Government of South Sudan on September 6th, 2024. His release follows his illegal arrest and detention on March 30th, 2024, during which time no formal charges were ever brought against him. Tragically, his health deteriorated significantly while in custody, and he now requires urgent specialized medical treatment.

Mr. Ladu’s arrest was a consequence of his brave efforts to speak out against the oppression of indigenous communities and unchecked land-grabbing activities in the Equatoria region. Though he is now free, the toll his detention has taken on his health is severe, and he is in critical need of immediate medical care.

This fundraiser seeks to cover the costs of Mr. Kalisto Ladu’s medical treatment, including transportation to a suitable medical facility, hospitalization, specialized care, and rehabilitation services.
