Support Scott Nakatani in battling cancer

UPDATE: 1-22-24
I apologize if my past updates contradict each other as I am Still trying to understand everything that’s going on with my brother. We met with the chemo oncologist and he didn’t sugar coat anything. When Scott had surgery to remove his tongue and lymph nodes, they tested all The lymph nodes they removed and 7 of them had cancer. The chemo oncologist said when they tested them they can see that the cancer cells were trying to come out of the lymph nodes and they can’t tell if any escape and try to spread but because of how aggressive this cancer has been they can’t guaranteed that chemo And radiation will help it from coming back. He says the chemo will only help 5% of preventing it but with radiation they will do everything they believe my brother can handle for treatment to make sure it doesn’t come back. So they decided to do Cisplatin Chemo on him which will be once every three weeks for 6 hours along with 6.5 weeks of radiation 5 days a week and getting hydration 2 times a week. This is a lot to take in for my brother, family, and myself but we are going to fight til the end and this too shall pass. Thank you all for your concerns for my brother and continuing to keep him in your prayers. We are not in the clear yet but we will continue to pray and do what we need to do to make sure he can be cured and stay cancer free.
UPDATE: 12-29-23 Scott will be discharged this afternoon. His hemoglobin went up, my parents and I including him were trained to do his daily routine here on out. He will have a PET Scan on Wednesday to make sure there is no cancer in him or anywhere else and I am sure we will hear more on chemo and radiation soon to come. Just one day at a time but beyond blessed that I have my baby brother here with us and we will continue to fight everyday to make sure this cancer is gone. Thank you all for your continued donations and prayers. This takes some of the load off of us to pay for the long road of treatments, equipment and his hospital stay. Thank you to UC Davis and all their medical staff. They have been angels for my brother and can’t than them enough. God Bless
Respectfully,
April and family
UPDATE: 12-23-23 11:00 a.m. Scott had a rough night after the surgery. He was in a lot of pain and had a fever all night. Finally this morning the fever broke but now his hemoglobin is low right now so they are giving him two packs of blood transfusion to help. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.
UPDATE 12-22-22 8pm surgery was successful they said they removed the tongue and all the lymph nodes that looked concerning and believe they removed all the cancer. His CT scan two weeks ago on his chest was normal and lungs looked good so they believe it did not spread anywhere else. They will still do a PET scan next week to be safe. Thank you everyone for all your prayers. This is just another step towards recovering for my baby brother. Next step is healing and making sure no infections occur then chemo and radiation.
Thank you all soooo much. We are still trying to come to realization of all this but we feel all your strength, prayers, and the Lord watching over all of us and my baby brother. ❤️
UPDATE: 12-22-23: Scott is currently in surgery to remove that cancer in his tongue and lymph nodes. They started surgery at 9am and it can take 10-12 hours they said. I will keep you
all posted. Again, thank you for all the prayers and donations for my brother. It’s been a heartbreaking last few weeks but we truly believe with all your prayers and our faith in the Lord that he will get through this and give everything he has to fight. Love you all and god bless. -April and the Nakatani family
UPDATE 12-18–23: Scott was rushed to the Uc Davis ER due to bleeding profusely in his mouth. Right when he walked in and the nurses saw the amount of blood coming out of his mouth they rushed him back to a room and about 10-15 nurses, doctors and a surgeon were assisting him trying to stop the bleeding. After a half hour they were able to manage it but he lost a lot of blood. So they inserted 3 pints of blood in him and was stabilized. Due to this they decided to do a tracheotomy so he won’t have trouble breathing and a feeding tube since he wasn’t eating much anymore cus of how much pain he was in his mouth due to the cancer. The surgery was a success and he is still struggling to breathe or get use to it but will be monitored by the nurses as he will stay in the hospital til his all day surgery Friday. Thank you soooooooo much from the bottom of my heart for keeping my baby brother in your prayers and the generous donations from you all. God blessed my family and I with amazing people and I will forever be thankful for that. Continue to keep my brother in your prayers as this is going to be a long road ahead of him.

Dear Friends and Family,
I come to you with a heartfelt plea for our baby brother, Scott, who has recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 Oropharyngeal Cancer. This news has shaken our world, and we're reaching out to our community for support.
Scott is not just a family member; he's a friend, and a source of joy to those around him. Scott will be undergoing surgery where they will remove his tongue and the lymph nodes in his neck. He will then begin chemotherapy and radiation soon after that.
Because of this, we find ourselves grappling with the unexpected financial burden. Our goal with this GoFundMe campaign is to provide Scott with the financial support he needs to access the best possible care. His medical bills are piling up and every contribution will make a significant impact on his journey to recovery.
If it’s within your capacity, please consider helping us by donating whatever is within your means. You can also help by sharing this GoFundMe campaign and by keeping Scott and our whole family in your prayers as we fight against cancer. We appreciate and thank each and everyone of you for your help.
Respectfully,
