Fundraiser for the funeral and after life care of Chief Deryck McKenzie, Emergency Medical Responder

We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of Mr. Deryck McKenzie, a man whose life was dedicated to serving others. Deryck was a true jack of all trades in the realm of first response. As a former police officer, volunteer EMS chief, and volunteer community patrolman, he spent decades protecting and caring for those in need. This fundraiser is to help a family who has given so much to their community for over 15 years. They have dedicated their lives to serving others in their most critical moments of need. Now, in their own time of tragedy, they need our help. Funds raised will go toward funeral proceedings and afterlife care for Deryck McKenzie, a man who gave his all for his community and family.

Deryck was more than his titles—he was a mentor, a father figure, and a guiding light to his colleagues, peers, and subordinates. He built lasting bonds with those he worked with, offering not only his expertise but also his compassion and wisdom. At home, he was a devoted father and grandfather, leaving behind a grieving family who loved him deeply.

Deryck’s legacy lives on in his children, particularly his first son, Jakeem McKenzie, who followed in his father’s footsteps. Jakeem became a volunteer EMS lieutenant and community patrolman, embodying the same selflessness and dedication that defined Deryck’s life. Tragically, on November 21st, at approximately 2:45 am, Jakeem found his father unresponsive and pulseless in bed. Despite his overwhelming emotions, Jakeem fought valiantly to save his father, performing resuscitation efforts with the skill and determination that Deryck had instilled in him. Deryck was transported to the hospital by the same volunteer EMS agency he had so proudly supported, but sadly, he was pronounced deceased at 3:45 am.
