For those that know Louise and those who don’t, here is this kind-hearted bigger than life lady that just can't stop thinking of others ....

Living with Louise means living with animals, no options, we spend as much time in India as we can and have done so for years! I go for the sunshine, people, riding my motorbike, kingfisher, and the fantastic food!

Louise goes for all the above, other than she rides a scooter, plus, plus plus!......unfortunately wherever, and whenever Louise comes across an animal in distress, she MUST do something about it, doesn’t matter where or when! Be it dogs, cows, (cows roaming the streets in India) cats or birds, I have spent many happy hours traipsing around with her, on her need to help over the years.

An Indian downside is the street dogs, they are everywhere in Goa, living and breeding wild, during the holiday season they are mostly fed by tourists, unfortunately, come monsoon all the tourists go home and the dogs struggle to find food.

The dogs are protected by law but there is nothing in place to either look after them or control their prolific breeding. The only people doing anything about this are people like Louise and others, most are ex-pats who spend their whole life there, spending hours every day cooking food and feeding mothers and their puppies, helping others mostly, but not all Ladies, who do the same and more, all out of their own pocket. It is no fun to see two ladies on a scooter with a dog wrapped in a blanket going to the vet to be euthanised as it is too poorly , then having to bring the body back to be buried, unlike the UK, where the vets will deal with a body, vets in India do not.
On the flip side only a few weeks ago (we have just returned, I think if it were not for her Grandsons she would stay there!)) we took a puppy some 4 weeks old in a really bad condition with ‘flystrike’ (google it) with maggots eating a hole in its spine, riddled with fleas and lice, on the scooter to the vet, thinking it needs to be put down, ☹ vet treats it (£10) says it might be ok, give it a chance, treat it with flea powder, rub an antibiotic wound cream into the maggots after fishing them out with a stick! To see the dog recover moreover it was adopted by an Indian family only a few days ago, makes all the effort worthwhile! The downside is it was one of six, only two survived.

Louise is setting up a go-fund me page for like minded people who care about animal welfare (there is little or no government support in India) and who would like to offer a little financial support.

Whilst treatment in India is relatively inexpensive, £20 to have a dog spayed, a fraction of the cost in the UK, this all adds up, the ladies catch as many animals as possible in cages, as they are wild this is the only way, but the older wily ones have to be caught by trained catchers, these have to be paid, the transport to the vets and back again all has to be funded plus of course the actual treatment, perhaps 6 or 8 animals a week.

Any help would be much appreciated. 100% of all donations will be spent directly on the animals, there are no ‘managing’ charges whatsoever, it is a labour of love!

I will be giving full detailed reports on where your donations have gone and updates on all the animals that you see and more in the video,,
