For the love of animals, Help get us some new wheels
Donation protected
Hi my name is Cheryl. Last night my son’s vehicle burnt to the ground. Feeling blessed that he was spared but now he is without wheels to carry on. Looking for anyone that can help to spare a few $’s to contribute to his situation and help get him back on the road again. These donations are vital to continue his passion of rescuing domestic animals who have been left outside to fend for themselves. They are often starving and suffering with health issues. He does what he can to help but without a vehicle to get these animals to much needed vet care is impossible. Below is the direct Facebook post of the event from my son’s experience.
“What we’re about to share was one of the most horrific events we’ve ever experienced while volunteering our time in our rescue
We were assisting a call to bring in two stray cats off the streets of Lethbridge who had been surviving thanks to kind community members over the last while but they needed to get into rescue as the weather starts to turn.
30 minutes after we picked them up and we were headed back to get them to safety, the vehicle lost power we came to a stop, this is where fear IMMEDIATELY set in, there was smoke coming from the engine then almost instantaneously, FLAMES
Knowing we had to get out fast and rescue the cats on board we ran to open the hatch.
IT DIDN’T OPEN!
We rushed back to the drivers door 2 more times to try to unlock In a panic to save the cats, until it finally did. Fire was coming through the dash now, grabbing the kennels and running, we realized how bad this was…
We were safe and THANK GOD so are the cats, we were then stranded in a place we didn’t travel often, watching our vehicle and its contents burn to the ground
What now?
The rescue is small, we volunteer our time and our personal vehicles because we know it makes a difference. Happy to be alive, but with reality setting in, this is going to be hard….
How do we help the next animal in need? We simply can’t without a vehicle.
Please help us get back on the road. Send your suggestions on reliable vehicles our way, we can’t be off the road when animals need us.
We are so thankful to the volunteer firefighters for coming out from Carmangay. The RCMP from Vulcan, and the many friends and fellow rescuers who we reached out to in a panic simply saying “we are safe, we don’t know where we are but we NEED help!”
Any and all help is so greatly appreciated to get us back on the road -“
