For Mike Dornseif, the man who gave us all so much

Hi, my name is Teri, I'm one of the many students that were lucky enough to have Mike in my life, and I'm asking for your help in raising funds for a pretty amazing man so he can use these to rebuild his life, and get back on his feet. Many of us are still in contact with our principal from our high school/junior high school days. Right now, this man has had his world twisted around, literally. Ian came through and tore apart his trailer that he was living in, inside of Fort Meyers Florida. Due to regulations and laws, his trailer was not insured. This amazing man, who has given so many so much, has lost everything he had. He was able to evacuate just before Ian did his worst, then his car battery, along with his cell battery died. He was able to get a hold of his daughter and she and her husband rushed down from MN to help her dad pick up any pieces he had left. A chair. His father's chair and his car that has a dead battery is all he has left.
He will be expected to rebuild his entire life, pay to remove his demolished home, and try and carry on and move forward.
This man for years fought for kids that were deemed "no good", "troubled", or "bad kids". We were none of those things, and he saw that. He built an entire school for all of us. Even when people high in the district pushed back, he pushed against them, for us, even harder. He put together an amazing teaching team that are in touch with many of us today, decades later.
When he went to retire with his amazing wife, she sadly passed away right before the big move.
We rallied for him and his family then, showing him we all still loved him, and that many in traditional high school graduated with just their diplomas, we graduated with diplomas AND a second family.
So, I'm asking you now, as his second family, to rally again and help him in any way we can.
If you've come upon this and weren't involved with the ALC, know that this is an amazing man who followed through with his dream and moved to Florida, even after his world was turned upside down, and needs a bit of help now. If he could have retired and cashed in on our love and respect, he would be a millionaire. Sadly, that's not how this works and I am asking for everyone to give what they can, for a man who gave his all, for us.
