For the memorial of Shaleah Royal

My name is Eileen. I had the privilege of being a bonus mom to Shaleah, or Nanny as her family called her. She was only 12 when me and her dad, Eugene, met. I officially met her on her 13th birthday. I gave birth to her little brother, Eugene, on her 14th birthday. She also found out she had high blood pressure around that time as well.
Nanny was a happy, cheerful, chatty young lady who loved and cared for her little brothers and her dad.
When Nanny was 16, she got meningitis with blood sepsis and coded for 90 minutes. The hospital staff brought her back after 6 epinephrine pens. For 6 weeks, she was in a drug-induced coma because of the fractured sternum and what had happened to her body during the sepsis. With that, she lost 5 toes, needed skin grafts on both elbows and knees, and would now need to be on dialysis. She also lost hearing in her right ear.
She slowly, over the years, developed and showed signs of mental health issues.
But through it all, she did her best to get through whatever she was facing.
She moved to Las Vegas for about three years but came to live with her dad, me, and her brothers in July of 2024. For six months, she struggled to find a balance with her medical issues. She lost her battle with all this on December 2, 2024. She was loved very much and will be missed greatly.
