Mount Hood Spinal Cord Injury Fundraiser

Tax deductible
A Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) is one of the most catastrophic and devastating circumstances a human being can experience. This affects not only the individual survivors, but also has a profound impact on the quality of life for their families. Financial burdens can cost those with SCI's an average of $500,000 to $5,000,000 over their lifetime, with the majority of those financial constraints occurring within the first few years following an SCI.

After experiencing my own Spinal Cord Injury in 2022, I was originally told I'd never walk again. As time progressed with a lot of intensive rehabilitation, I have regained movement and recovered to the point where I am walking, even though I still face difficulties. As a personal goal, on May 17th, 2023 I became the first quadriplegic (paralysis affecting all four limbs) summit of Mount Hood, the tallest peak in Oregon. This was a promise I made to myself shortly after being given my original prognosis while I was still in a wheelchair. I am very lucky and fortunate to be in a position where I can climb up a mountain, and I can only hope other individuals with SCIs can recover to the point where they can fulfill their hopes & dreams as well.

So with that being said, I'm starting a fundraiser to help raise money for Neuroworx, a non-profit physical and occupational rehab center that specializes in SCI's and is located in Sandy, Utah.

Insurance can be a huge burden to families and patients who aren't getting coverage for physical and occupational therapy. That's when non-profit organizations like Neuroworx rely on donations. They helped me get back on my own two feet, and the very least I can do is help pay it forward.

The goal is to raise $1,000. If we can raise even half of that, I'll call it a massive win. Recovery is a long-term process, but in regards to that amount I have talked to the owner of the Non-Profit and all the proceeds will go into their scholarship pool. The Scholarship funds can buy someone multiple sessions that can greatly improve their quality of life through additional rehab sessions that insurance won't cover. Thank you for your support.
