Travel & Lodging while Aaron is hospitalized
Donation protected
Hello. We are Lupe & Rachel Lozano and we are fundraising for expenses for our son, Aaron’s hospital stay in San Antonio. We have medical insurance for him and for the time being, medical care is not an issue. The fundraiser is for travel, lodging, and lost wages for us, as we reside 4 hours away from where Aaron is hospitalized.
Aaron is a very hard and motivated worker. In the fall of 2022, he had started taking college courses to pursue a career in HVAC. So when summertime came around and he was offered a job with an air conditioning company, he couldn’t have been more excited to get hands on experience before finishing up his courses this fall.
On August 1st, Aaron was involved in an accident while on the job. On the evening of that same day, we received the call that no parent ever wishes to get. We got a call from Aaron and a nurse telling us he suffered burns to a little over 30% of his body and that he was in the ICU Burn Unit at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, which is 4 hours from us. Dad packed bags and started the drive to our son. It was then that we realized the severity of what happened. Aaron suffered 2nd degree burns to his face, neck and knees and 3rd degree burns to both of his hands & arms. He was able to see Aaron for a bit right before he went in for surgery to clean wounds and begin the skin grafting procedure. They harvested skin completely from his right thigh, the front, outer and inner portion of his left thigh and from his tummy area as well. We are grateful that Aaron is in the best place he can be for someone in a situation like his, but in order to be around him during his hospital stay, we are needing to be traveling back and forth so someone can be with him, while the other parent goes home to take care of siblings and work even if it’s for a few days.
Aaron is a very strong willed, young adult. We know that he is working hard already in his recovery process but we are also aware that it will be months of rehabilitation before he can return home with us.
We are praying that his recovery will go by quicker than what we are being told and that he will be a testament to all the prayers we are doing and getting from so many people. (Which we are extremely grateful for)
It is very hard for us to come to the point of asking for donations but just in these few days here, we are realizing how quickly expenses add up.
Thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time for our family.
