Forger's Apprentice - The Musical
Donazione protetta
This true story by author and playwright Mark Forgy chronicles his friendship with “the world’s most successful art forger” Elmyr de Hory. The book has been adapted for the musical stage by Mark Forgy, Kevin Bowen & C. S. McNerlin, also featuring arrangements and additional music by Martha Davis. "The Forger's Apprentice - The Musical" will be having its world premiere at the Sabes Jewish Community Center Theatre in St. Louis Park, Minnesota in June! This is a new production of The Park Theater Company with producer James J. McDonough Jr., Ph.D. The show is directed by Sara Pillatzki-Warzeha with Musical Director and Accompianist Roderick Phipps-Kettlewell, Set Design and Production Stage Management by Tim Colby and Costumer Robert Yarwood.
Our primary purpose in using gofundme is to cover our initial production costs related to mounting this world-premiere production. These include producer fees, renting or purchasing props, costumes, advertising, travel stipends for our cast and crew, composer fees and sundries. We’ve established a modest goal of four thousand dollars to accomplish this. Beyond this expense threshold, everyone involved in this project (the writers, cast and crew) will receive a modest stipend from profits which include ticket sales for their contributions of time and talent. We aim to foster the careers and talents of everyone connected to "The Forger’s Apprentice - The Musical," as well as provide a high-quality and entertaining world-premiere musical for theater lovers here and beyond. We welcome, encourage, and are grateful for your support! All donors will be listed in the program.
The musical is the coming-of-age adventure of Mark Forgy, a young Minnesotan who flees conformity during the turbulent 60s and embarks on a quest of self-discovery by going to Europe. There, on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza, his fortunes change as he becomes tied to a man with a mysterious past, and the unlikely bond between Mark and Elmyr de Hory transforms his life forever. This touching play weaves art, deception, illusion, humor, tragedy and hope in storytelling at its lyrical best.
