#blackgirlresilience
After making a discrimination complaint about inequitable pay, title and workload in her lecturer and staff appointments at an HWCU, a historically white college and university, our Sistah was retaliated against and terminated "at will." She's currently homeless, struggling to meet basic survival needs and has been for several months now.
The funds from this campaign will go toward:
1) her basic survival needs (i.e. food, toiletries, etc.)
2) medical and fixed expenses
3) healing from #blackgirlpain, the trauma of her work, life, and personal experiences, and
4) the traveling educational development necessary to manifest the vision described below, which extends betterment far beyond herself.
Choosing to blossom life out of challenge, this Liberation Arts-Activist is now committed to starting an ethical business to sustainably co-create work, home and healing spaces with and for Black Girls and Womyn* that don't hurt and center both Reproductive Justice and Liberation Arts. Will you help her help herself build anew? We're aware that she needs to get well and informed enough to stay well in order to fulfill this vision in a sustainable manner.
Click the video to hear more in her voice and scroll down for more info, including her wish list which we'll keep updating as conference, training, and networking opportunities arise. Thank you!
We have created this campaign in solidarity with our Sistah, a Liberation Arts-Activist who needs our help. At this time, she cannot share her name for fear of continued retaliation from the structures and institutions that put her in her current position. However, she felt it to be necessary and responsible to this campaign to share her heart with all of you, and as such, has created a Spoken Word poem to share her story. https://youtu.be/c8gAxysnh8g Please share her video far and wide using the following hashtags:

We believe healing is not an individual act done in isolation, but in community. We are all deserving of healing, love, and support. Please join us in making a crucial year of Black Woman self-recovery possible–bell hooks’ "Sisters of the Yam" style. After all, wellness shouldn’t be a luxury afforded only to those of privilege.
With that, the campaign goal also accounts for the GoFundMe fees and donation withdrawal charges for which, the Liberation Arts-Activist will be responsible.
She’s never been supported in this way, so feels quite uncomfortable asking for these funds. However, we know the quality of the work she has done and the impact she can (and will) have with the proper resources.
In India Arie's Worthy SongVersation, India generously shared her story of "Breakdown. Breakthrough. Break the Shell. Elevate and Fly!" We thank you in advance for helping this Liberation Arts-Activist soar. Your gift will be honored and used with the utmost respect and care.
