Formal Friday

Donation protected
Some of Ireland's biggest radio stations and media brands are joining forces to support charities who are aiding front line workers in the fight against COVID 19.

Today FM, Newstalk, 98FM, Spin 1038, Spin South West and Off The Ball are calling on all of their listeners to dress up, show solidarity and donate!

#FormalFriday For Frontline Heroes

Dress up to the nines and donate to the front line

Every day thousands of people put on their uniforms to help us.

So this Friday, April 24, we’re asking everyone to dress up to support them.

There’s just one rule, if you dress up, you donate!

We need your help to pay it forward to the thousands of people who need it most right now

On #FormalFriday you can work-from-home in your old Debs dress, tackle the housework in your wedding suit or exercise out the back in your fanciest going-out look.

Press the Donate button on this page to give what you can and show your appreciation for our frontline heroes.

All money raised will go directly towards supporting those working on the Covid-19 frontline through charities and funds including;

• Mater Foundation: supporting frontline staff in the fight against Covid-19
• Beaumont Heroes Appeal
• Together With Our Heroes: Temple Street and CMRF Crumlin
• Mercy Hospital Foundation, Cork
• University Hospital Limerick
• St James's Hospital Foundation
• Cork University Hospital Charity
• Feed The Heroes

How will funds raised through #FormalFriday go towards supporting those on the frontline?

Fiachra O'Riordan, CEO: St James’s Hospital Foundation

“So that patients can keep in touch with their loved ones during their time in Hospital we would be spending the money on Tablet Devices and mobile phones which would enable them to communicate with their families given the visiting restrictions. We would also organise TV’S, Radios, newspapers and magazines.”

Mike Dwane, Communications Officer UL Hospitals Group, University Hospital Limerick

“The money from donors who have been looking to help out in relation to COVID have been going in two directions. One is a fund for PPE and any donation goes to a specific cost centre to purchase personal protective equipment for staff and for patients. The second area is for the staff Sports and Social Club to fund staff health and wellbeing initiatives.”

Cain O’Flaherty, Feed The Heroes

“This fund supports money that is paid to delivery restaurants and kitchens to deliver food to our hardworking frontline staff.

Organising with local operators to deliver regular lunch and dinner drops nationwide.”

Celine Nic Oireachtaigh, Head of Communications Temple Street Foundation | CMRF Crumlin Together With Our Heroes Appeal

“Funds raised for the 'Together With Our Heroes' campaign will support frontline staff, patients and families in CHI at Temple Street, Crumlin and Connolly. They will be put to work where they are most needed in the hospital, provide essential supports for front-line medical teams and fund a range of patient and family supports.”

Julie Harris, Head of Fundraising & Communications, Mercy Hospital Foundation

“As well as supporting the Hospital with resources to fight Covid19, funds will also be used wherever they are most needed in the hospital during this crisis. The severe impact on our courageous teams and on our resources will be felt not just now, for but years to come. We know that the generosity shown to ‘The Mercy’ and other hospital across Ireland has and will continue to have an immense impact on the lives of patients who we know will be coming into ‘The Mercy’ and other hospitals across Ireland during this current wave of Corona virus and indeed for future COVID-19 outbreaks in our communities.

Sheila Campbell, Fundraising & Communications Manager: Beaumont Hospital

“At this difficult time for us all, we're determined to do everything we can to support the remarkable hospital staff and that's why we've set up the Beaumont Heroes Appeal to help frontline staff who are risking their own health and support the care of patients affected by the virus.

Maeve Power, Fundraising & Communications Manager: Cork University Hospital Charity

“We have been working closely with the hospital management team over the last few weeks in relation to Covid-19. The frontline team are hugely appreciative of the publics support and continue to ask them to help by listening to the advice of the HSE in terms of staying home, washing hands and social distancing. We have also been focusing on this message. We are grateful to those who have been fundraising in gratitude to our frontline workers - The use of funds raised will be agreed in conjunction with the management team at the hospital.”
